NYSA Winter Basketball Season
Registration Details:
- Registration Fee: $145 + $55 NYSA annual family membership fee
- Registration Period:
Opens: August 8
Closes: October 1
All registration fees must be paid in full by this date. Unpaid registrations will not be accepted.
Where Your Fees Go:
Your $145 Registration Fee Breakdown
$45 goes to NYSA to cover:
- Gym maintenance and upkeep
- Equipment replacement
- Facility improvements and repairs
The remaining $100 is for League Costs:
Uniforms, Referees, Basketballs, Concessions, and all other equipment, equitable for purchase to better the program
Payment Methods

- NYSA does not accept personal checks
- No hardcopy registrations will be accepted in person.
- Note: There is a surcharge of 3 percent or more per credit/debit transaction. If you have multiple children, please register all participants together and not individually, as you will pay multiple surcharges instead of one in total.
Uniform & Equipment:
Jersey Policy
Players will receive an official Jr. NBA jersey based on the area and division in which they participate. Jerseys are included in the registration fee and do not include shorts.
Additional items such as shorts, shooting sleeves, water bottles, and more can be purchased separately through the Jr. NBA resource website.
Players are responsible for:
· Basketball shoes and socks (estimated cost: $50+)
· No outside basketballs are allowed inside the gym
· NYSA basketballs may not be taken outside the gym
Season Dates & Timelines:
- Nov.1 – Jan.10 for all Girl Divisions & 8UCoed/Beginners
- Dec.13 – Feb.21 for all Boy Divisions
- Location: All games and practices will take place at the YMCA, NYSA Gym and outdoor courts (weather permitting)
- Games: Each team will play at least 8 regular-season games, ending the season with divisional playoffs, and participate in an All-Star Weekend Showcase/Banquet for all Divisions (1 All-Star Selected per team)
Practices & Games:
- Practice Schedule:
- Teams practice 2 days per week, between 1– 1 ½ hours per practice
- Practice locations: NYSA Gym and outdoor courts
- Game Schedule:
- 8U Coed/Beginners will participate on Fridays only
- Games will be held on Saturdays
- Coaches will communicate practice and game schedules directly with parents
Divisions:
- K–3 COED / Beginners (developmental format with skill training and mini challenges)
- 4th–5th Grade Boys
- 4th–5th Grade Girls
- 6th–8th Grade Boys
- 6th–8th Grade Girls
Tryouts Schedule: (Tentative)
All tryouts are held at the NYSA Gym
- Oct. 4th: 4th - 5th Grade Girls @ 9:00AM - 10:15AM
- Oct. 4th: 6th - 8th Grade Girls @ 11:00AM - 12:15PM
Make-up date: Oct.11 @ 9:00AM - 10:15 AM
- Oct. 4th: 4th- 5th Grade Boys @ 1:00PM -2:15PM
- Oct. 4th: 6th - 8thGrade Boys @ 3:00PM - 4:15PM
Make-up date: Oct. 11 @ 10:15AM – 11:30AM
Team and coach assignments will be announced on the following date or no later than:
Girls Divisions: Oct.9 Boys Divisions: Oct.9
Eligibility Exceptions:
- Players must be enrolled in school at the grade level at which they are competing.
- Players may be no more than one playing year older than their grade level allows.
Photos & Extras:
- Individual and team pictures will be taken during the season
- Photo purchases are optional
Team Placement Policy:
We understand that some parents may prefer certain coaches due to prior positive experiences. While we appreciate those relationships, final team placements will be decided by a committee of coaches to ensure fairness and balance across all divisions.
